André was born on August 21, 1965. As a young kid, he learned to play the organ and the piano. He started playing guitar when he was 15 years old. André studied History in Utrecht. Before Paper Moon, he played in one band for only 3 months called The Hufters.

Together with Hanz, he founded Paper Moon to get a life. His favourite musicians are the Beatles, Big Star, Nick Drake, Elvis Costello, Daryll-Ann, Joni Mitchell, The Pixies, REM, Tom Waits and Neil Young. His favourite dish is Indian lamb curry. One of his many weak points is that, to the constant horror of the others, he is absolutely a-technical.
